I have not felt much like writing lately. Obviously. Today, however, I am moved to write.

Today, my family lost a dear friend to Leukemia. His battle was long and arduous, yet through it all, his faith in Jesus Christ never once waivered. He and his wife literally took each day as they were given. Today was his last day on this earth.

For some reason, certainly providential, this song came on my itunes. It was in a list I never click on but somehow I had selected this list. And there it was.

Even when we don’t understand (which, for me, is almost daily), we can cling to the truth that no matter what, God remains with us and cares for us in ways that are far beyond our understanding.

So take my heart, Lord, and seal it, for thy courts above!

1. Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

2. Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I’m come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

3. O to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

Check out the Brigham Young University Combined Choirs performing this song. It is truly unforgettable. Then go download it from itunes or buy the CD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq-Q22Pf1W8
